PVE Farming Character Creation
What if you where able to create a character (like in PVP) and use them in PVE. This would be a farming/exploring only character. All map areas are available to you to access, but they must be visited by a normal PVE character to open access. All skills that are unlocked are available to you to use. All unlocked weapon mods are available to you via the Weapon creation screen just like in PVP. Armor and runes will be the same as in PVP. You can group with friends in outposts but you all must be using farming characters to join in groups. You can add henchmen or heroes up to the same amount of characters allowed in zones. You will have the Hardmode and standard mode option available to you. You have access to all vendors and can sell in towns. Storage access is granted right from the start. Map travel to specific zones is available to you and your party. You will not have access to any missions or quests nor will you be able to join and help any PVE standard character. This is strictly a farming option that allows you to try any build and setup in a PVE setting.
Opinions? Would you buy a slot for this?

Basically a normal PvE character on crack?
Would ruin the game imho, being able to just go anywhere/have armor/weapons spawn with perfect mods... sounds to wrong to me :S
I know you say you wouldnt be able to join other players and only farm, but still, people work towards farming, this would screw them over :S

I'll save the flaming for someone else. But in all seriousness:
Hmm...with no access to quests this could be considered pure farming - which most builds don't revolve around. So from that point of view, I don't see how it would break the game. Although it would since there are those that will farm constantly. Bots and gold sellers are bad enough now without something like this in place.
But farming is supposed to be hard. Or harder than the regular game at least. And I don't think I could vote for something that could make that easier by removing the hoops you have to jump through before you can farm.
Interesting idea though.

People will farm no matter what. This is no different then what is going on right now. This just gives you an opportunity to try all unlocked skills on a character and weapons / armor like in PVP. If you want to try an area as 55 monk you can. (Well… you would still need an off hand from prophecies to do it) Then a couple minutes later you can come back as dervish running a different build or a ranger running splinter etc... Sort of a testing ground vs. PVE to see what you like. And make a little money for yourself as you go. There would be nothing you could do from this that you could not set up as a standard PVE character. It would just save time.

/signed for testing ground then. That would be really nice. See what kind of build is easiest for you to master and then do it "for real" in game.
That would be cool.

Farming is not a separate institution of the game, unlike PvP. It's just a part of PvE, created by players combining certain skills, not by the makers of the game. The only reason to farm is for making money for elite armors/items or for titles/PvE skills. If they create a slot for farming, they might as well ditch the economy the next day. Either nothing will have any value, or the drop rate will be killed to the point that Mallyx will have non-max water staffs(hyperbole, but you get the point).
If you like to farm that much, go out, get the skills needed, and use that PvE slot to farm. Don't ask for Anet to change the game for your hobby.

Why would you want to test farming? It's all about searching the farming forum or PvX-wiki and you are ready to go.

PvE chars are there for PvE
PvE is the storyline and anything that doesn't have anything to do with PvP such as farming
would be discriminating to ppl that farm with their PvE chars

Sounds like a way to be extremely lazy and not spend good time trying to equip a farming character.
If you're planning on making more money, you should also plan on at least spending some time and money on making the character.
